Ah, June. School is out, the sun is shining ... and the kids are already bored.

Luckily, June is full of fun holidays to keep the whole family entertained all summer long.

This season is a good time to appreciate the great outdoors, and June has several holidays that will remind you to cherish and protect our planet. Celebrate nature with World Environment Day (June 5), World Oceans Day (June 8), and World Rainforest Day (June 22).

The first day of June is the perfect occasion to take a trip to a local (or national) park: it marks National Trails Day, National Play Outside Day, National Prairie Day, and National Black Bear Day.

June also provides a plethora of baking inspiration. Among the sweet treats celebrated this month are chocolate macaroons, gingerbread, strawberry rhubarb pie, German chocolate cake, peanut butter cookies, fudge, apple strudel, cherry tarts, and chocolate eclairs.

There are also plenty of fun things to do in your own backyard. Play lawn games with the whole family on National Yard Games Day, or eat lunch in the fresh air on International Picnic Day.
